Dell 15r N5010 battery & Charging question

Hello,

I recently bought Inspiron 15R N5010 with

i5 M460 - 4 GB ram - ATI 550v 1 gb dedicated -HD 500 5400 rpm

6 cell battery

When I fully charge this battery to 100% and remove the AC supply suddenly it tells me that battery is 96% and if i leave it fully charged to the next day it falls to 93% during windows start up, why this happens ? shouldn't it be 100% or even 99-98% ?

And what about its life time ? with browsing and power saver mode ( extended battery life mode ) it takes 2 hr 15 min to discharge to its 10% with me is this good or there is something wrong ?

last thing I want to ask about the best way to take good care to the battery ? should i remove AC when battery is 100 % ?

thank you

I think your battery life of 2 hours + is not bad for the 6 cell battery, but not great either. you are right in that it should start at 100 then 99 etc not just drop to 93 % when you unplug it.

Now this can be a calibration issue, or the battery may not be working at maximun performace.

If this is a new laptop the battery should be covered under a 1 year warranty, I would call Dell as request a repalcement.

Your notebook BIOS should have an option to calibrate the battery. If not, charge the battery up, fully discharge it and recharge it again.

cheers ...
