dell studio 1450 and dell wireless 5600 multimode gobi card

Hi all, I have a Dell Studio 1450 laptop and dell wireless 5600 multimode gobi card. From the dell site the dell wireless 5600 is not compatible with the studio versions. I have seen in forums that these wireless devices can be able to work with non-compatible laptops also, by making suitable changes in software.
Any one who faced similar problems? Please reply with your solution.
Please suggest on how to make this to work with studio laptop.
All Suggestions are welcome.

From what I know this card is being firmware locked from Dell to certain providers and certain models. Check the firmware change log and see if your model is being supported

Thank you for reply.
Yes, those devices are firmware locked.

Please observe description part in below link

http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=298915

It says it has support for UMTS(generic), so I guess it should work with all the carriers. (For me only UMTS is needed)

Now the only problem is in the compatibility.
It does not have support for dell studio 1450.
I need or is there any possible hack or anything from software to avoid the compatibility error during installation of the software?

Any suggestions on this please reply.

Like I mentioned above, my suspicion is that it is being firmware locked for providers and models - meaning (for me) the software will look for certain hardware information to go further. Some sort of generic UMTS software, maybe?

cheers ...
