Anyways, I have been told by the guy that the adapter was 'ok'. So, going ahead with the 35 $ re-work + 11 $ belkin surge protector.

Sincerely hope this resolves my problem for good.
Bad parts can come in batches. I had to replace 3 new batteries before I got one that worked.

I am leery about a 11$ surge protector, make sure that it cuts power off and not absorbing it when it surges. The good ones I know cost at least $100 with a lifetime warranty

Good luck.

cheers ...

A laptop surge protector for 100 $ !

This is the one that I'm looking at..

Local currency translates to approx 11 USD

Edit: Oh alright... I guess its some kind of standards.. hmmm.. UL 1449 or not.. will it not give my laptop basic protection against surges ?!

My take - cheap surge protectors are not really protectors. You are lucky if you have one shot!

Sorry, but they should ban these cheapies, it is not worth the investment, if you call it so. Better way is to make sure that the home electricity is being well grounded.

Sounds like a system board issue.
