in dv6000 hp laptop replace to new hdd

hi guys old hdd dead in dv6000 hp laptop, i don't have any disc's. so is there any way i can make recovery discs. i install new hdd in laptop is not allowing to install windows with out recovery partition on it.

in this situation how to install windows on dv6000.

Get yourself an OS installation disk (use the key underneath the notebook for activation) and pick up the appropriate drivers direct from HP Support Site for your model.

when ever i try to install windows with win bootable cd, up to farmat partition it is successfully going smoth, then restart by itself shows message like, unable to instal windows because of factory image not found on hdd.

so how to install windows on brand new hdd,.

- Is this win bootable CD is an OS installation CD, or is it just a recovery CD type?

- Which version of OS is this bootable CD?

this is windows xp sp2 bootable cd,. i don't know what is OS installation cd and where i will get this OS installation cd.

i don't have recovery cd.

This (XP) disk might be the problem since it cannot recognize the (Sata) hard drive after the reformat. You need either slip streaming a SATA driver to the disk or turning off AHCI support in BIOS before continuing with the installation.

- AHCI = Advanced Host Controller Interface.

Would it be better if you install Vista or Windows 7?

thanks alot for your all quick replies. I don't have a vista or win 7 discs right now.

In case if i found HP recovery 3 dvds ( or i make arrangement), then which steps i have to follow to rebuild or install all drivers and windows on this new HDD.

If you have the recovery disks then everything will be easy. Plug them in and just follow the instruction, it should restore everything back to original state

And can i get back factory image partition on this new hdd after windows installation, when i use this recovery dvds.
please let me know, i am very much intrested for factory image partition.

The recovery disks would get your comp back to the original state as far as software and OS concern, but not the recovery partition. That can only be done from manufacturers.

It has (not) to. Manufacturers would lose their shirts if they allow us consumers to do this on our own. Good luck with the installation.
