new hard drive changed in acer aspire 5100

I've got system recovery disk for acer aspire 5100
I installed new hard drive 2.5 inch 250 gb
The question is that ,can I make partition on this drive with my recovery disk or I have to use another software tool for this purpose?

You'd need to use a free 3rd party software like GPart Live CD to partition the drive.
