Hi, i really need some help here. I am starting to work for sunlife financial tomorrow and need my laptop to run windows xp for their software. Currently i have windows 7 installed. I want to know if I can split my hard drive and when computer boots I can choose xp or windows 7. So I can use xp for work and windows 7 for home. Since i don't have the cd for windows 7 I don't want to remove it completely. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated!

What version of Windows 7 do you have installed? If you've got Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate, then you can install Windows XP Mode which is a virtualized copy of XP running within Windows 7. The only downsides of using XP mode to run your XP programs are that graphics acceleration won't work well in XP Mode and by default XP Mode only uses 1/8th of your total RAM.

And it is now difficult to run XP on a lot of new laptops as the BIOS won't support it...

If you dual boot, you have to put the old operating system on first anyway - this leads to you having a distinct possibility of hosing your windows7 and its recovery... And thats if you don't want to mess about with complicated bootloaders...

The easiset way by far is to get a 2nd hand laptop for work alone...
