When we are able to upgrade to the new ATI 9700 is it going to be worth $299?
I figure the price will be the same as the new FXgo5700.
What do you guys think?
I'm thinking either buy this or get my car windows tinted....

At this point, I would wait and see what kind of Benchmarks and performance the new ones get, you will get a pretty good comparison. Mainly because there will probably be a couple out by the time they allow you too upgrade.

Yes, you are one of the Guinee pigs I was refering too. Actually, there may be some out even a week before yours, so you will at least have a little leeway to know what too expect.

Ahhh, isn't being a guinee pig fun

I'll probably be one of the main guinea pigs... I'm hopefully gonna get mine as soon as the new shipment of 9700's arrive... If and when I do get it, first thing that will happen is installing my wireless card, then I'll go get the free benchmark software and bench the card for all of you. Even I am interested to see how big of an up it is, and if it is worth the 3-4 weeks i'm waiting for it...

I'll be the biggest guinea pig of them all though...
Let's see what the best alienware can offer benches! Well... not quite the best... no extreme for me! Here's what I'l do:
1. Stare at box in awe for 5 whole minutes
2. Rip into it and boot up
3. install & run benches
4. Post that I got it and bench results
5. Go on marathon of playing games (I'll buy UT2k4 afew days before I get the machine)
6. See step 5
7. Sleep with one eye open guarding alienware
8. watch a DVD and tweak everything JUST right
9. install usual software (AV I'll install even b4 benches) like Photshop, frontpage, Max PC screensaver...
10. Act just like bob (dude in "male enhancement" commercials) and try to get Digicam to post pics and review!

For me, i think its alot better if you wait. Like my cousin's commentary on computer upgrades; "its more worth it if the upgrade is a quantum leap." Your current video hardware should suffice for any game (since it's probably better than the majority of the video cards used by PC gamers generally). I'd only upgrade if I had lots of disposable income and was very picky about getting the latest hardware. I'm not so I'll wait, and I'll upgrade down the line when its cheaper and more worth it. If you chose to upgrade, good for you, I'll be jealous with your gaming performance boost (especially in upcoming games like HL2 & Doom 3).

The only reason I'll be more of a guinea pig than you Mario, is because I will probably recieve my system before you recieve yours. I have a 3 day advance on you.

you do have a point there...
Either way I just want it!
