u350 VGA to TV capabilities?

Good day to everyone,

I have a rather specialized question that I hope someone here can answer:

Would a VGA to S-Video/RCA cable work to output video to an older TV using this laptop? My TV doesn't have HDMI and I would rather not spend $100-200 on an HDMI to S-Video converter.

It probably works but I don't think that you would get more than 600x400 resolution on the T.V. though.

Thanks for the quick reply. It doesn't have to be great. My old laptop with an S-Video port died and now I have no way of sending video from PC to TV - very annoying.

If you can save up for an USB adapter I would recommend going that route. This way you can take advantage of the higher resolution (and HDMI, DVI output) in the future when you replace the T.V.

Some thing like this, and price still going down I believe.

It's funny you mention that. Apparently my googling needs some work, but I wasn't able to find a product like that (though I was pretty sure they existed). I walked into two retail stores in the US (Best Buy and Fry's Electronics) and none of the sales associates had any idea what I was talking about.

Thanks for the link - it's much better than the VGA solution.
