Problem Using Dual display

Thread Starter
Ok I am using a HP Envey 15 with a U2410 attached to via a HDMI

I get these choices as to how I want it to display

Show Desktop display 1
Show Desktop display 2
Extend these Displays
Duplicate these Displays
Attachment 21338

I picked Extend these Displays thinking that I would be able to use both screens independently as in Lightroom displaying on the U2410 and Internet Explorer on the Envey.

But when I pick the Extend these Displays option I can only use the U2410 and the Envey shows the desktop wallpaper only and no Icons at all and the envey is not useable when I pick this option.

I presume that this is not how this option is supposed to work

Actually, that's exactly how that option is supposed to work. You just need to change your primary monitor from the external to the notebook. After you do that, the external will show nothing but the wallpaper and you will be able to drag windows over to the secondary monitor and use the programs there.

Yes, they are side by side (default) or how you configure them to be.
