Public opinions/rumors/dates on future sagers

Well im sure there's tons of people wanting to express there feelings on when/how well it will perform/will they be in different new chansis (laptop case). So let your imagination run wild to a reasonable degree in here and lets talk about whats to come.

(not trying to take over the rumor/news section) adam, just wanted the public being able to give there opinions on whats to come in the coming months

Oh ok well I will be first I guess

Im hoping that sager incorperates a 17inch lcd w/wide/high angles (if not I can just deal with the angles like what the 16.1 inch screen does now. Heck the 16.1 inch is nice but larger is better to a degree.

Also the wireless g would be sweet (would be finalized by then)

the pentium 5 should be out as well as the springsdale motherboard. motherboard suppoce to have a new sound chipset that supports dolby 5.1 and 8 2.0 usb ports. Now I think that the 888x would certainly need a new chasis since 8 usbs would take up a bunch of room imo. Perhaps the mp3 player will be left out also since nobody really cares for it (well 80% dont). Also we do need some new speakers, I hear the h-k speakers from toshiba are amazing. Would be nice to see them in sagers for the future!

Im sure with all the new stuff p5/m10pro/dual channel ddr400/hopefully 7200rpm hd also will boost the performance a good 50% or more compared to the high end sager laptops atm. Graphics card/hd is the bottleneck atm.

If everything ^ above comes out for the new 888x or 567x model wouldnt that be amazing? I dont know what the 5x model number will be since the 5670 should be out soon. Aww one can dream but maybe the dream will come true. also the availability for the 888x it would be nice if it came out at a soonest july/longest september.

I know I cant wait

So what do you have to say about what you think will be out or hope and how it will perform?

Isn't this covered in the "What do you want to see in the next XXXX" thread?

I'd like to see everything on the cutting edge, and then some! After all, that is probably 90% of Sager's audience, no?

Yea I agree that most is covered in what do you want threads

but there not talking about performance, why they want the options ect

there just listing what they want

so its a good thread to just rant on why and how it will look/perform

use your imagination

Rambus ?

Um, DDR is widespread, but lets not forget that pentium 4 are at ulmiate perfs using rambus ram. When will we see al aptop using this ?
Maybe never.

rambus faster than dual channel 400 ddram?

I know thats extremely fast, also rambus costs a lot more than ddram doesnt it or nay? I think that a good margin of future motherboards are just supporting ddr as the standard.

I never used rambus but it use to be the **** back in the days

What about HEAT? I have not used a Rambus system, so I honestly do not know: Is RAMBUS more or less "hot" than DDR400 (say)?

I'm wondering if that may be why they are not in laptops?

(quoting myself again)

A 800MHz FSB and RAMBUS setup would be a sweet multi-media production tool! Will the 800MHz bus even be available with RAMBUS systems (in Desktop form)?

Talk about your video processing power! All they need now is a REAL hard drive interface. Not some half-ass Serial ATA 150MB/s garbage.

Talk about disappointment: SERIAL-ATA

I doubt it kat since dual channel 333ddrams already out for some laptops

toshiba I think uses it but im not 100percent sure but I can clearly say I've definitely seen the dual channel 333mhz out on some laptops. The cases were damn small like the 5660 so im sure it cant be a heat issue.
Now rambus, im not sure about that type of ram.

I'll be extremely satisfied with the dc ddr400 when its out. Hey faster the better I say

Rambus

I base my experience with a p4 Dell Precision Workstation with 512 Rambus Ram.
A missile. Heat... i agree...As the rams modules are covered with a metal bar and a HOT WARNING sticker. hehehe maybe mot in a lappy soon....
Rambus=Grossly Expensive (2x the price of DDR)=Absurdly hot=Proprietary standard requiring exorbitant licensing fees=dying standard. Enough said.

Are you sure? I'm not aware of any laptop manufacturer using Dual DDR. Currently there aren't any mobile chipsets that support it and their aren't many desktop versions out there that support it either. DDR333 (single channel) is the highest memory I've seen in laptops and their are only a handful of those around as well. Looking at toshiba's latest press releases that use the latest NVidia FXgo cards they appear to still be using single channel DDR as well.

The case and construction...

I would like to see aluminium alloy construction as an optional case / or carbon fibre for the upgradeable laptops...

Aluminium alloy will look sweet and will dissipate heat very well...Also I just love having a solid laptop.

Re-Done buttons...the audio DJ is a fantastic concept and works well but would prefer a less flagrant design.

Chrome inlays and leather wristpad!!! That will be sweetness Metal hinges and clamps...

To put in a few words - an option model with the same hardware as all other models but all the case-work and more...

Well, I'm betting there are some heat issues with both RAMBUS and dual-channel DDR for mobile use.

I mean, it could be nothing that a fan and exhaust wouldn't handle, but then again, in a laptop, one more fan/exhaust can be murder on battery life and laptop-temperatures.

We'll see...

Hm... aluminum... Would definitly look cool, and would dissipate heat well too, but it's also conductive. They'd have to coat the inside with an insulative material (thereby cancelling the heat dissipation advantage) if they wanted to make that work. A carbon composite case would definitley be cool, make it a whole lot lighter.

An idea??

How about making the lid of the laptop into the battery pack with the LCD in the front...??

But I still like my idea about sewing in a battery pack into the carrying case of the laptop - this will be a mega battery pack which along with the batteries inside the laptop can propel the laptop for over 10 hrs. It can be charged by plugging the retractable plug into any socket the case should have a built in battery monitoring module with an LCD display and audible alarm...

That will be sweetness!!!

Your right van, its the single channel that I was talking about

sorry for the mishap hehe I knew I read about 333ddram and figured it was dual channel

also when the springdale chipset comes out this is what kind of bandwidth your get with it.

400MHz Quad Pumped Bus 3.2
533MHz Quad Pumped Bus 4.2
800MHz Quad Pumped Bus 6.4

Memory type Bandwidth, GB/sec
Single-channel DDR266 SDRAM 2.1
Single-channel DDR333 SDRAM 2.7
Single-channel DDR400 SDRAM 3.2
Dual-channel DDR266 SDRAM 4.2
Dual-channel DDR333 SDRAM 5.4
Dual-channel DDR400 SDRAM 6.4 <-----------------
Dual-channel PC800 RDRAM 3.2
Dual-channel PC1066 RDRAM 4.2

right off the bat all I can think of is wow, this kind of ram bandwidth on a laptop is killer

also Gs about your idea for a optional case like that would be killer. Would be worth a extra hundred right? Wooo *keeps dreaming* hehe but here's hoping!

I don't think the conductivity would be much of a problem, however the heat dissipation would be a serious problem because it would be so good, there'd be no insulation between the case and the holder/surface/thighs! Talk about a bun-warmer, yee-haw!

Try to visualize...

Black and steel grey carbon fibre case with chrome accents, Chrome hinge, A delicate chrome inlay around the sides...and over the vents just like the grill of auto's from the 60's...

Chrome inlayed keys made from extruded aluminium...

Chrome hotkeys and power button...

Piercing red lights for the system lights...

Harman Kardon speakers...

A snazzy symbol (like alienware has - only more representative of Sager - maybe a great White Shark embossed on the top lid) in chrome...

Leather palmrest

Progressive W.A.S.D and Arrow keys for more control in games...

a built in mini joystick with throttle / or a modular option...

No more simple LCD on the front - all black buttons with chrome inlays and the LCD is sull color which displays Batt level, Current CPU speed, FPS in games, Text for Mp3's and Audio CD's, Elapsed time and track info for DVD's...

Smaller remote control also in metal (aluminium or black with chrome)...

Fans on one side forcing air through the laptop and out of the other side...

Slot loading optical drive on the front right side of the laptop...

SD Card slot and rest of the ports on the back...

Aargh!! I guess I will have to build my own...

More like what a pointless standard: Serial-ATA. What's the point of introducing a ATA150 or ATA300 when hard drives can't even sustain 66mb/s?
