I did google STCDBOOT.ISO and it is part of recovery, as far as screenshots I may have to go into control panel or keyboard settings to enable the keys.
It's good to know that I could get it restored, but, it took a long time for it to update though.

I was able to restore by using the instructions at this forum to unhide PQService.
copy MBRWRWIN & RTMBR.BIN
hide PQService
execute "mbrwrwin install rtmbr.bin"
Alt+ F10 works, it goes thru the whole routine, even starts copying files, on reboot it doesn't load, all I get is some crazy symbols.
originally couldn't find preload tags
not sure if it helped but they were in my D:/drive, so I copied to C:/drive
still goes thru routine, same thing.

I get my gparted-live -cd and look at my partitions, not sure what I'm looking for, I've been changing partitions all along thru whole process, but the only thing I see using gparted is that my #2 partition reminds me of a swap partition. Not only that , but when I put my hdd in an enclosure they're backwords.

I exit gparted and opened testdisk which on gparted cd do an extended scan
and notice that even though I aws able to do a screenshot using wins7 a couple of posts previous, it was marked as deleted, so I toggle it to P instead of D and rebooted.

I hope this helps someone. Thread solved.

Great informative feedback.

Oh 2 thingsI forgot to mention

If system is unbootable
to execute "winwrmbr install rtmbr"

I used Hiren's boot cd,
select mini winxp
when you get to desktop
select windows icon+r
"win +r"
or you got to start button and select run
execute "cmd"
terminal opens,
You need to execute all of this first
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread217870.html
then this,
execute "winwrmbr install rtmbr.bin"

Also don't include " " marks in commands, they're only to show item necessary or the command.
Goodluck.

Follow up question.

Before I startied restoration I imaged my drive with clonezilla and since it's an image, it's unreadable.
I'd like to restore this image but on blu-ray disc so that I can compare the PQService partition to mine.
I'd still would like to keep a copy as an image where it resides now, does clonezilla give that option during restoration?
I've been dissecting another copy that shows some discreperancies

I am not familiar with Clonezilla, but most backup/restore tools should leave the original images alone.

I just copied my backup image to another hdd to examine it and went through it and only find 2 things that are from the time computer was infected and they're listed as recycled.
They are "desktop ini." and "info2".
Are they necessary for restore?

That "info2" sounds like a dodgy file I would not touch it myself. "desktop.ini" - just let the system recreating it.

You could put them in the Recycle bin for a few days and see if it affects anything..(after a couple of days, try doing a system restore back a couple of days).if not then you are probably safe to delete them...if it does, they can be easily restored to their previous position

I just did another system restore
Then I ran M$ All in one safety scanner
It came up with 1 registry item that it couldn't clean

system restore point for IE
I guess when I was checking PQService I must have missed it.

I was thinking that it was boot virus.
So I was going to get avira antivir rescue cd and run it.

Knowing that there's an infected restore point gives me some sort of direction to look in before I attempt another sytem restore.

My question for today is:
If Acer has a special MBR,
How can I manually extract the clean MBR from STCDBOOT.iso using cli?

PS I know that this is probably suitable for new thread, but didn't open new thread because I'm trying to solve this 1 and it's related.

You might have to look into some commercial ISO extracters that would allow you to specifically pull the MBR from it.

I think I can mark this 1 solved.
I just did another system restore this time I didn't try to retore until I deleted the other 2 partitions.

When I was doing M$ setup I chose not to connect to internet.
Acer setup it's system as it was doing that I went to power managemant and made sure that machine wouldn't sleep or powerdown when I reboot to run av, then Rebooted to HBCD, went to mini winisxp and ran superantivirus.
It only detected 4 items and a lot of cookies. So I took a chance and let it delete them.
After that I got Avira ran it and it didn't detect anything.
I went for updates which went really fast.
Now I'm on internet and it hasn't slowed down at all.
It hasn't filled up my C:\drive with B.S.
Also when I shutdown it shutdown without hesitation.
I'll give an update if things change.
