I see ebay seller stating both, can anyone confirm what kind of DDR and max memory support.

Probably using a D620/D630 BIOS

No way a D620/D630 BIOS will work on a D610. WAAAAAY too much hardware difference. More than likely the system isn't limited in any way from supporting 3GB it's just that at the time the D610 was available 1GB modules were about as large as you can get. I remember when 2GB Modules cost a small fortune.
