Is this processor good?

Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS7552G-6061 NoteBook AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N950(2.1GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. I've been looking at laptops and this one seems to have the best graphics card i can get for the price (radeon 5650) but I haven't heard of the processor in it. A lot of people have told me to look for the i3 i5 etc but how would the one in this do against those. It says 2.1 GHz which is slightly less than the others but it's a quad core so I don't know enough about it to know if that factors in. Also is this a good laptop overall? I know it's got a big screen so would that effect functionality?

Phenom II processors tend to compare well with Core 2 processors, so a 2.1 Ghz Phenom II would be roughly as powerful as a Core 2 Quad at the same frequency. If you're doing things that take advantage of multiple CPU cores or doing multiple things at once, then it's definitely a good processor.

I have no experience with AMD but the ATI card isnt bad for gaming but i can comment on the 17,3" screen as my laptop is same size.I really like the big footprint of big screen easy on the eyes, movies look great and when you have to do work you can get alot of stuff in their.

I heard they have a tenancy to burn out, is that true?

in general, processors are the most reliable components in a computer. On average, the hard drive, motherboard, RAM, video card and battery are all likely to break before a processor
