Not sure what to think yet.
A motherboard on eBay costs around $150.

Thanks. I have never bought computer parts on ebay, will need to research a little bit.

Go for the sellers with good feedback and read the warranty print. Good luck.

Here is something interesting. This is a DC jack that you can put on the motherboard. Have not yet found a tech that will put it on. Still looking...

Get yourself an iron soldering ding, pull up your sleeves and have a whack at it - quite simple really.

you willl need either a good solder sucker, or Solder Wick to remove the old solder

I found a local work from home tech who did replace the part I posted earlier, and it worked.

It WAS NOT the power cord, it was the jack. It's working great, he charged me $40, which is way better than the probable $200.

He had seen the issue before and is of the opinion on this model of Dell the jack area was not designed to be strong enough. I did get 4 years out of it, but whatever.

So there may indeed be some power cord issues out there, but the jack is an easy fix and should be looked at once you sort out the power cord issue.

FWIW.

Resolved.
