Is suficient a Intel Core i3-370M+ 4GB Ram for it ?

Hi!!
I want to buy my first Notebook. I going to use it for navigate on internet; Microsoft word office, excel ; web developer (Dreamweaver CS5); programing on Visual Studio 2010.net; run Sql Server/Mysql ; Apache servers; encoding some videos, and test some programs. I’m IT professional. I found a dell vostro 3500 with intel core i3 370M; 4 GB Ram; 320GB (7200 RPM) for 925 dollars in Argentina.

Is it notebook powerfull for my requeriments ?. A similar core i5 460M is about more 150 dollar extras. I think that there isn´t a big diference between the two processors (only the turbo boost for 2.53(nominal) to 2.8GHz Max for i5450M) and i3 370M(2.4 GHZ(nominal)).
I have a Desktop PC, I need a extra computer for movility only in some case.

I would invest the extra 150 and get the i5. The notebook would go a bit further for you. i3 for me is too minimalist

Of course it all depends on what you do and your ability ($$$) to spend. Considering that:

- you already have another, main computer (your desktop),
- the CPU bump alone represents around 15% of the price,
- it already has 4GB of RAM,
- your declared uses, IMHO, don't really demand that extra margin,
- having an i5-540M laptop myself (Lenovo x201/12"/i5/2gb/250gb 5k4),

I wouldn't pay that extra amount just to bump that CPU. And it's not like the i3 is a bad CPU. Not at all. That's my personal opinion... probably what I'd do.

Also, try to research and see the technical differences (there are some other extra features in the i5, IIRC) and see if you'd need them. But for processing power alone, I dunno.

Thanks for response me, especially the Brazilian neighbor.
I bought the post notebook. I could buy with the core i5 but I preferred invest the extra for my holiday. In another forum I found somebody that work with those applications (visual studio , dreamweaver) and says me that have enough performance.

I am waiting for the delivery estimated about 25 January 2011.

I will post in the future about notebooke then test it.
