1) is the replacement board new or in good working condition?

2) there are other possibilities that other parts (CPU, keyboard ... ) have been fried during the spill

i bought motherboard known as working off ebay.the spill was centred around the touchpad area.the spillmarks on the old mboard are by the two touchpad switches but has been replaced,i cant get into the bios.all other components are stainfree.

CPU and/or bad ram modules can stop systems from getting into BIOS, if the motherboard is in working condition. A surge in the circuitry, regardless the cause, could have damaged these 2 components.

I am inclined towards a fired CPU myself in this case. Do you have a spare CPU to test this out?

It is pretty cheap for a motherboard - 25 quids. Try contacting the seller and see if you can have an exchange.
