will HD 5870 run these games?

hey there fellas, i was wondering that could it be possible that mobility readeon HD5870 doesn't support many games like PES 2011,prototype etc. as i found out that these games support ATI 5000 series cards & the latest is HD 5850. so just wondering that is it possible that my HD 5870 does not support few games like this or will it work?

I would say more like that the games are not up to speed with newer hardware than anything else. Patches maybe?

Furthermore, AMD Catalyst comes out with new game profiles every week, so check them out.

The 5870 and 5850 are nearly identical as far as games are concerned. If one is supported, technically both are supported. Its not going to be a problem.

Not entirely true. Those profiles are CAPs which are for Cross-Fire. Not single GPU setups. It may be relevant if the OP is using a CF setup, but doubt it.

Agreed. It makes no sense and simply not true that a game would support the 5850M and not the 5870M. They are exactly the same except the 5870M are higher clocked and better binned. But even this is contentious since Alienware's 5850M can be overclocked beyond what a G73's 5870M is capable of. 5850M being faster and better from Alienware. Both are Juniper 800 stream processor GPUs.

AMD drivers recognize this. For 5850M and 5870M the drivers are listed as 5800 series.
