I am not sure that the m5790 2.06w is any different than the 2.06w of the m5550.

What is the issue that you are trying to resolve?

Check the ram modules? Swapping them around or using one module at a time and see

Let me back tracking a bit:

- you had the 6600 in and it was fine.
- you put in the 8600 and it's not booting with peeping noises

next step ...
- you put back the 6600 and it was fine again? or you had not done so yet.

So why don't you give it one more shot, put back the 8600 again and see if this time the peeping is gone away?

With 8600M GT installed the laptop can only handle up to 2,5 GB Ram.
So either you take out one 2GB stick (the card should work then) or you have to use
a video card with 256MB and you can go up to 4 GB mainboard ram.

I have uploaded the m5790 bios from my hive
see: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread204484.html

m5790 (last time i checked) uses 1.19/1.19w this allows it to support 4GB ram

here is the latest m5790 BIOS from my hive (1.19)

I beleive the 119W also allowed use of the unlocked T7600 Intel processor
