SSD into Acer Aspire 5742-7789

Hi all,

My brother just bought an Aspire One on Boxing Day:

Acer Aspire AS5742-7789, Notebook - Intel Core i3-370M, 15.6" HD, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel HD Graphics, DVD-RW, Wireless N, Gb LAN, Webcam, Window 7 Home Premium 64-bit

He also picked up an OCZ Vertex 2 Sata II 2.5 SSD:

What I want to know is will this fit with no problem at all? Are there two bays so that we can install the SSD and keep the original HD in there? Also, does this computer use regular sata or mini sata?

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe that your brother would have any issues with installing a SSD drive in the comp. Not sure about the 2nd bay though. And as far as I am aware of, ACER has yet to have a mini-SATA configuration with their models

cheers ...

As Q said, you will need to replace the current hard drive with the SSD and install your operating system and programs on it. The SSD fits in the spot where the hard drive is currently and it uses a standard SATA connection.

Okay, so there is only one hard drive bay on this laptop? Thanks.

I believe all that should be confirmed in the user manual..most contain instructions for "replacing of Hard drive"
