Laptop Comparison Help

Hi,

I am wanting to get a new laptop for my son who likes to play games. I have an option to get both of the laptops below for roughly the same price. Since I am only slightly familiar with the basics of what a gaming laptop needs, I was hoping you could assist me and tell me which of the options below is a better buy and/or offer any suggestions. Also option one is bluray, can he also play and burn dvd's that are non bluray inside the player? Thanks!

First Option:
MSI GX660R i7 Gaming laptop RADEON HD5870 1 GIG DDR5

Processor Type: Intel Quad Core i7-7420QM
Processor config/speed: Quad Core/3,000 MHz
Video: Radeon HD5870 1 GIG DDR5
Memory: 12 GB
Hard Drive: 640 GB
Drive/player: Bluray

Second Option:

Alienware M15x Gaming laptop. Core i7 , 1.5GB GTX 460M+

Processor Type: Intel Quad Core i7
Processor config/speed: Quad Core/3,000 MHz
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1.5 GB
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 250 GB
Drive/player: DVD+/-RW

Most Blu-Ray players also burn CDs and DVDs and all of them play CDs and DVDs so you should be set there.

There is some evidence that the Nvidia video card is a bit more powerful, but I'd probably still go for the system with the ATI card due to the amount of RAM, bigger hard drive capacity, and Blu-Ray player.

Thanks for the responses. So I am assuming a general rule of thumb is more is better. The reason I ask is because the person selling option 2 has increased what he will include and this has changed the specs with memory, video card, hard drive and player. It almost identical except for the memory and hard drive, though they have been improved. Is the memory that important since its now the only difference or is one manufacturer better than the other?

New increased specs for option 2:

Alienware M15x Gaming laptop. Core i7

Processor Type: Intel Quad Core i7
Processor config/speed: Quad Core/3,000 MHz
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M 1.5 GB or Radeon HD5870 1 GIG DDR5
Memory: 6 GB
Hard Drive: 500 GB
Drive/player: Bluray

6GB of ram is plenty for 99% of us. The best deal probably depends on what the asking price is for either one is...you have not mentioned that part as of yet.

The price on both is 1500.00. Both include free shipping and a one year warranty.
