Clevo expects its monthly notebook shipments to rise to 150,000 units during the first quarter of 2011 mainly due to orders from three new channel clients in Brazil, according to the Taiwan-based maker.

Positivo, the largest PC vendor in Brazil, was Clevo's only notebook client in the South American country. But Clevo has developed notebook models different from those shipped to Positivo for market segmentation, and has won orders from three other vendors with shipments to begin in January 2011, the company indicated. As a result, the proportion of Clevo's notebook shipments for the Brazil market will rise from 30-35% in 2010 to over 40% in 2011, the company said.

For its notebook business, monthly shipments of 120,000-130,000 units will be a break-even point, Clevo indicated, adding it shipped 550,000 notebooks in fourth-quarter 2010, and 1.5-1.6 million units for the entire year.

Guess that Clevo is bypassing 3rd party-partner to work direct in South America.
