Acer Aspire 4530 running through power cords

Thread Starter
I am now on my third replacement power cord in the past 2 months. I've been getting them off the internet for about $10 each and it's becoming too much of a hassle. I have to fiddle around with the connector piece until it lines up just right with the laptop, otherwise it doesn't receive the charge. The connector piece looks like it's melting/rusting/deteriorating and has brownish marks around the edges. The previous cords I have used come apart completely from their rubber casing around the connector piece and are only connected by the wiring. Is this just because of the quality of replacement cords I have been getting, or an indication as to a problem with my laptop? I have had it for about 3 years now.

Could be both, the adapter and/or the power jack of the notebook - I personally stay with OEM adapters

cheers ...
