Gateway NV58 won't power on..

This laptop would not start. I borrowed a friends battery and the laptop worked so I bought a new battery and everything worked fine.
What I didn't realize was that the new battery wasn't charging, and the laptop won't run off AC, I have tested the plug and it's outputting 19.6 volts. Is this the charging module/power supply broken?

My daughter just informed me that's she's tripped into the powerline on multiple occasions. Maybe it's the power jack she's damaged? that appears a common problem. I have the service manual and can remove the MB and repair if that's a probability.

Thoughts?

Does not hurt to open the notebook up and visually check the area.

Got the motherboard out and the input jack was cracked, so is a easy fix once the part arrives.

At 50 years old the magnifying glass is mandatory LOL..
