Dell Uk no help!!

Hi everyone, Im from the Uk and I could do with some aid as dell uk arre c--p !! sorry but they are.

Firstly me. I have a nervous disorder that means I cant use the phone. So I find a users service manual for my inspiron 1720 on the dell uk site http://support.euro.dell.com/support.../en/SM/fcm.htm
this shows the Flash Cache Module-FCM that fits underneath next to the WLAN slots (not the intel turbo cache that fits in the express card slot)
despite this + supplying the link & explaining about my phone issue via email chat, all dell sales staff tell me is either "there is no such part" or they're not trained to help me so ring technical assistance !!
So could someone A: let me know if the parts worth the effort (I have vista 32 bit with 4gb of ram and start & close times are terrible).
If I could get hold of the part I had intended to run it + the 4gb intel turbocache, would that help ?
B: if it is worth it, how can I get it seeing as dell uk deny all knowledge !!
Dont suppose anyone has a uk part number (was told it is kx960 but that seeems to be usa only as it does not show up on dell uk)
Advice please !!

will do

I will however it appears intels turbocache 4gb fits in the same place so might try that as opposed to the 1gb kx960. I had initially been tol that the FCM fitted underneath as per the service manual. While the turbocache fitted in the express card slot but I was told today that in fact they both go underneath next door to the WLAN slot. Im double checking but will go with the 4gb option if this proves to be right. Whereas if they fitted in different slots I was going to save and fit both. Will keep you posted once i know for sure. Cant afford win 7 so will have to speed up vista somehow !!

Don't you think that W7 licence would cost less than that FCM module?

hi, I would really like the 64 bit ultimate if i could which is at least £200, even the home premium is well over £100 whereas the 4gb works out about £36.
I have never undertaken an OS upgrade, do you think Id be better off saving up the extra and getting win 7 instead then ?. I really am a complete novice in all this so words from the wise are much appreciated.
I started off just looking for what appeared the cheapest route as im medically retired so only have about £15 a month as disposable income, but if you think win 7 is the way I can save up and just make it a longer term project ?

Check around, I am sure that you can get some rebate somewhere for W7 - they do offer special package like family pack now and then for cheap. Using FCM is like a placebo effect that can give issue when upgrading / updating. My 2 cents.
