e1705 integrated graphics adapter

Thread Starter
have a dell e1705 w/"intel integrated graphics media accelerator 950 gm". had screen problems and bought new lcd. did a hard drive format and reinstalled win xp sp3, used dell resource disk and did driver etc installs. after installing new screen i have the top 2/3rds perfect, the bottom 1/3 rd is blue w/ horizontal white lines, i can detect some bleed of the images from top 2/3rds but not useful at all. i can connect the laptop to another monitor and the image is fine. when i open device manager there are two entries under ?other devices_
?video controller
?video controller (vga compatible)
there are no other entries for video.

does this config seem correct? since my graphics is on the system board i would not have to install a driver? cant find one for my system on the resource disk.

sorry for the long ramble to get to the question, any input would be appreciated

thank you

Try go to Intel Support site and picking up the graphic chipset driver for your 950GM. Also try plug in an external monitor and see if there is any difference in the display.

Try the chipset/graphic driver from Intel first. Your LCD could be on the way out

downloaded updated chipset and driver from dell, successful install. rebooted computer and it made no difference.

my main question: Should i still have a questionmark in front of other devices in device manager as though no video devices installed since video is integrated on system board??? oh, still have good image on other monitor.

thanks

Can you upload a screen shot of the device with the ? mark in question? It could from another device that affects others.

You can try to reseat the LCD cable, but I have the funny feeling that the LCD is going bad, as mentioned above.

All you need is to "Go Advanced" and from there you can attach pics/files etc ...

@streakolean
You don't have installed drivers for integrated video
ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R153830.EXE

But with or without drivers image must be OK.

There are few possible variants:
-not fitted or inserted well into socket of "LCD cable" on motherboard connector
-not fitted or inserted well into socket of "LCD cable" on LCD connector
-defective LCD cable
-bad LCD.

heres three photos to show what is happening w/ my laptop screen issue. after looking would you agree its an issue with the new laptop lcd and not driver or hardware related?

1st photo is laptop connected via digital to my 20" desktop lcd monitor.

2nd is laptop connected via vga to an old 15" crt monitor.

3rd is laptop with the new lcd screen connected, note the blue area at bottom and white lines.

i have not installed the driver r153830 provided by gabiz ro at this point. currently i'm leaning towards returning the screen.

thank you ghn and gabiz ro for taking the time to help me, i appreciate it very much and if you have more comments i would like to read them.

streak
