Upgrade CPU on Acer Aspire 4636G

Hello,

I am new to hardware upgrading and would like to know what it would take to get a faster CPU. Currently i have a core 2 duo clocked at 2.2ghz. Can I assume because I have a p-socket (478) - this is what CPU-z said
that any other dual core intel processor for p sockets will fit?

Please give me as much information as possible.

Any processor you upgrade to would also need to have the same frequency bus speed as your current one. Otherwise, you are correct.

Upgrading the hard drive to a 7200rpm makes a difference as well. I upgraded my Aspire 5630 a few months ago from a 1.66MHz to a 2.0MHz CPU and added a Western Digital Scorpio Black series 320 GB 7200rpm hard drive. It sure did improve my laptops performance!
