Removing Programs from Vista

Thread Starter
I have Vista Home Basic on my Aspire 5920G and windows update has installed Live Essentials, this means i now have 2 email programs, 2 photo gallery programmes etc.

How do i remove the old ones so that i can use the newr live versions? I cant find them in uninstall programmes section from control panel. Is it a good idea to start messing with all this or not?

Cheers

Are you sure that it is two completely different programs and not updates to the original program...you had best make sure. I cant imagine Windows Update adding something that is already on the laptop...I can see Update adding changes or amendments but not a totally new copy of the same program...also forgot to add..if you open the program and go to the menu line at the top, Click on "Help' and About Live essentials..it should tell you the version number of each of them

Make a restore point first, then proceed to remove both of them - you might need to run the installer again in order to see the option removing previous version.

It's a mess with the Live Essentials installation from MS

I'm pretty sure they are different programmes, already had windows mail, photo gallery, movie maker, now have all them and windows live photo gallery, live movie maker and live mail.

I can unistall all the live programmes through the uninstall section in control panel but can't find anywhere to get rid of the other, older stuff??

You might want to run the Windows Live Essentials installer one more time, and see if it allows you to un-install certain options. If that would not work, best thing to do is to either backup your personal data and go for a system restore or just live with it (not really a good way )

He/she must have an hp printer. Hp solution has some of those programs that get added in.

No HP printer, have an epson all in one thing and these programmes were added before connecting to printer, which is on my stand alone pc and i access it via my home network.
Tried running installer again but no option to remove others.

Well if you can live with it then leave it alone, if not, as mentioned above - back up your personal data and perform a system restore.
