XI 1546 General queries

Well, there ain't gonna be a XI 1526 coming this way, I found a XI 1546 instead in what appears to be mint condition so now I don't need to fix the machine first thing(phew) and I get to keep my Aspire 5113WLMi too(always good for backup purposes)...
Anyway, I suppose since the XI 1546 is P72 based it is basically the same machine as the 1526 and the AW M5750/5790 but with a little more "ooomph" than the 1526, right? Is it a good machine? And do you know if there are any compatible coolers that fit inside it instead of the stock fan and heatsinks? And I'll stop hijacking the thread after this

No I don't know about a 3rd party fan replacement but I think that whatever comes stock is always good enough for the machine.

I am moving your post and mine to Fujitsu Section for more input

cheers ...

That explains why I got a thread reply message yesterday and couldn't find your reply

Stock cooling stays then, it will get some help anyway, for my Acer I have a home-built laptop stand with a 80mm fan powered from one usb-port, it really helps so I've already planned a new stand for the XI 1546 with built-in fan...

You might want playing with different thermal pastes as well. I swear by IC Diamond for all my comps.

Well, I'e swapped out the X1800 for a geforce 7600go(linux compatibility, yay!) and replaced all thermal materials with AS3 which I had laying around and all temps dropped while exhaust temps rose, must be good for something smile.gif No artifacts during heavy loads and my Debian Wheezy is flying high on this machine = me happy winknudge.gif
