Acer 5100 incomplete boot

Thread Starter
Last night I added 2G memory to my Acer 5100. I then powered it on using the AC adapter. I heard noise inside the machine, but only got a black screen, even after 30 minutes. Is this normal? How long should I wait for the notebook to fully boot after replacement a memory module? Should I follow Acer's instructions about disconnecting the AC adapter, removing the battery, holding down the power button, etc., or is there another way to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Have you tried removing the 2GB that you just installed?

2G not removed yet

I'm not at home so I can't do anything yet. The first thing I will try is to disconnect the AC adapter, remove the battery, and hold down the power button, as Acer suggests. If that doesn't work, I'll deinstall the new memory module and put the old one back in.

Cool. Make sure that the ram module is seating snugly also. And compatibility Good luck.
