ACER 7520 Touchpad Problem

Hello All

I have an Acer 7520 and had been using it this morning with no problems whatsoever. Came to load 2010 Kaspersky; unistalled previous version, started the new install then after about 20mins noticed laptop had frozen (time clock was 15mins out), with no buttons on the laptop responding.

Disconnected the power and started machine up again; everything seemed fine with the sole exception of the touchpad which appears completely dead. Have tried Fn F7 which shows flashes up enabled/disabled but the cursor still doesn't move. Have tried a wireless mouse - still nothing. What is going on? Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

I would un-install Kaspersky just to eliminate the possibility that it was the cause of your issues first.

Try to boot up under Safe Mode and see if you can get access to them.

Hello GHN, thanks again for the reply.

Managed to access the Control Panel via various combinations of tab and return but Kaspersky hadn't loaded. Tried to start another reload of Kaspersky to see if this would cure the problem but the program's limitations mean that navigation is pretty much dependant on the mouse / touchpad. However, it was possible to initiate a restore and hey presto, we have a live touchpad.

Many thanks for your kindness in taking the time to help with the problem I had.

Just make sure that you have uninstalled any other antivirus before you install a new one..you cannot have two active AV's on a computer, they conflict, freeze computer etc...
I woujld suggest Avast free or Avira free...Never had a problem with Avast and have been using it or its predecessors for years
