M7700 Noob in trainning

I have just purchased a Alienware M7700 D9T off of craigslist for $100It was a steal everything was included with it except the ac adpater. i recentley bought a 120 gb hard drive and Im planning on buying a nividia Geforce go 7950 GTX 512 that i won on ebay for $210.00 should i upgrade it or leave it and if i do what problems will occur while trying it and The motherboard is also a V6.1 so im ok. please reply

I would get the system going first and making sure that everything works smoothly before considering the GPU swap. Good luck.

Update

Ok i got my system and i turned it on and no video what is going on

Bad GPU or bad motherboard. Guess that card that you planned to get might be the solution. I would personally bake the current card first, hopefully it 'll get the comp going before investing on the new card.

Actually i already ordered the card when i first won it LOL
But dont i have to have the old card in order to install the drives or can i put the new one in and it will work

We can only hope If it gives you display, then at least it can be saved

Ok i found out the problem two pegs that are connect to the motherboard that i screw the screws from the VGA card in are broken off should i buy a new motherboard or try to wedge in the VGA card with something or am i screwed

Go for the chance of fixing/replacing the pegs. If that does not work, sell the comp in parts, cut your loss.

Ok its fixed I JB weld the pegs in so now I got a new problem it cant find my Harddrive when will this end

LOL i searched that up online And it found my hardrive but now it wont let me install windows it goes straight to the blue screen of death each time

the drive Is fresh from the line and I formatted it, doesn't even come up it just says unknown disk on the setup
