Replacing the modem in my compaq evo n610c

I have a built in modem in my evo n610c that I have never used...but I sure could use a bluetooth card. Is there any way to replace the modem with a bluetooth card? Also, does anyone know of any compaq evo mods?

They do sell a Bluetooth board for this model on the net, so it should be easy as just installing it. Hard to say until you take the comp apart. Download the service guide from HP and see.

Thanks! Yes, there is a compartment on the back of the screen - a kind of bulge - that will house (it seems) either a proprietary wifi card or bluetooth card. Based on experiences from users, neither of them seems to work well, hence my desire to put something a little more updated into the machine. Actually my proprietary wifi card is dead now.

Yep . this is a shame for HP using a whitelist in their BIOS - a practice that hopefully they are staying away from.

Search around the net, there were many that were successful in updating their BIOS. Just be careful with yours

Thanks! I have been trying to download the manual for a couple of days but I keep getting a "file not found" type of message when I click on the link. Do you know if both a wifi and bluetooth module can fit in the bulge on the back of the monitor?

I am having the same issue trying downloading the service manual there

Can't tell for sure if both would fit. I am moving this thread to HP for more input.
