Hi guys, first post. Looking to buy new laptop. So far find these two
MSI GT663R 434NL
http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/prod...L/default.aspx

MSI GX660R 488NL
http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/prod...L/default.aspx

Which one is better? To me GX660R looks better but i'm no expert. I never had MSI before, how is the build quality, screen etc.
Also if there are other alternatives...
Thansk very much for any advice.

The 660 has a slightly better processor and the 663 has a slightly better graphics card. If I were choosing between them, I'd probably get the one with better graphics since graphics cards are nearly impossible to upgrade on most notebooks, whereas processors can generally be upgraded.

MSI is a Taiwanese company and they make motherboards and graphics cards as well as notebooks. They don't generally sell enough systems to be rated by major publications. Their systems tend to cost below average for the components and have average build quality.

All my MSI comps are still humming along after 5 years, they tend to be a bit expensive. You can always try to look for some re-branded models (Medion per example) and get them for 12-16% off ... if they have them.

cheers ...

Is the buid quality good as Dell? I own XPS 1530, which is fairly good. Is it worthy to pay more for Alienware M15x?

I would say MSI build quality is probably comparable to Dell. The Alienware costs more partially because it is customizable so that it can potentially be more powerful than other systems and partially for supply chain markups (and also possibly for brand recognition).
