...And my problems continue... Am I screwed?

So i was happy, because i found a nice clean way of setting up windows 7 64 bit with all drivers and command center working perfectly.

Last night i went out to best buy to happily buy a god hdmi cable to connect my laptop to my tv. I came home and found my alienware area 51 m17x at a black screen trying to initialize shat looked like the ethernet controller which kept failing. I restarted the machine and it seems to keep failing at this, but after a couple attempts it gets to where i can boot into windows in safe mode... Then it says my windows has problems and offers the option to fix it, which i select. I let it do its own thng and found it saying it is trying to repair disk errors which might take over an hour to completr.

That was 10 and a half hours ago and it is still running. Does it sound like a disk issue as windows thinks, or is it sound like a greater issue?

Its is giving me the option to cancel if I want. I have to imagine if it isnt done by now it will never complete.

Am I hosed?

If it's stuck on repairing the file system, your hard drive's probably shot.

Just rab out and got 2 seagate 500gb momentus drives (7200 rpm) they were on sale for 54 so at least that was a plus

Installed them and win7 is installing ok

At this point i am wondering if i am setting a record at how many times a person has reinstalled their system in one month lol

Don't know, I stand at 9 re-installations in one month.

cheers ...
