The LaVie LL970/DS, billed as NEC’s upper-tier model, offers up a variety of processor choices, starting as low as a Celeron P4600 and going all the way up to a Core i7-2620M. You’ll be able to get this one with a 15.6 inch 3D screen (1920 x 1080), as well as wireless digital TV tuner, two USB 3.0 ports, SDXC support, eight gigs of RAM and a 750 gig hard drive, as well as a Blu-ray port. Also included are a pair of two watt speakers with the Yamaha MaxxAudio sound system, and Windows 7 Home Premium for an OS.

And while the LaVie LL970 is clearly NEC’s top rank, there are reports of other models coming out as part of the LaVie lineup. There’s the LaVie S, which looks to offer a variety of Intel processors including a Core i5 and a Core i3 as well as two to four gigs of RAM, a Blu-ray drive and up to 640 gigs of hard drive space. Next there’s the LaVie M, which gives you your choice of an Intel Core i7 or Core i3, 500 gigs of hard drive space and four gigs of RAM. Lastly, there’s the LaVie Light, which is really more of a netbook that’s set to offer two gigs of RAM, a 320 gig hard drive, all backed up by an Atom N550 processor.
They’ll be hitting Japanese shelves starting this Thursday (at least for the LaVie LL970 / DS), and will be doing so at an “open price model”, so if you’re not in Japan and you want one of these, better get to calling your importer of choice.
