Dell M4500 Laptop - 16gb of Ram?

I'm hoping someone can help me out. We have 2 of the Dell M4500 ordered. However I can't see myself paying the exorbitant amount of money Dell wants for the 16gb of ram.

Can anyone recommend a place to get 2x 8GB DDR SoDimms?

8GB RAM modules are exorbitantly expensive anyway, but I did find a site that sells 16GB in 2x8GB modules at half Dell's price. I've never heard of them, though, so I can't guarantee anything.

edit: nevermind, it was DDR2, not DDR3. I'll keep looking

Thanks... That's different memory though. Thats DDR2 and its 8x 2gb modules..

8GB modules are tough to find You might want to shoot Crucial a mail and see if they have it.

Thanks.. I just sent them an email. Haven't heard back from them yet though.. Figured I'd see what else was out there.

Just got word back from them that they don't have it. They didn't even know it supported 16gb at first.

Sure they do. They post it on their configuration dialog.

It is now updated to 4gb of RAM at minimum. and made it 16GB to the maximum.

I wonder how it is performing now.

You probably will not see much of a difference between 4-16 unless you use apps that take advantage of the extra ram
