Thread Starter
Intel today started shipping the new 6Gbps SATA 510 series of SSDs.

The 2.5-inch drives are available to Intel's OEMs in capacities of 120GB ($254) and 250GB ($584).

The drives are using 34nm MLC NAND flash memory. The 250 GB model is featuring a sequential read performance 450MB/sec, 300MB/sec for sequential write, a 4KB random read performance of 20,000 IOPS and a 4KB random write performance of 5,000 IOPS. The 120GB version is slower - 400MB/sec for sequential reading and 200MB/sec for writing .

The SSDs are using the Marvell 88SS9174-BKK2 controller.

The first review of the Intel 510 is up at Storage Review. They say its synthetic IOPS performance is poor but real-world application performance is good, putting it between the Crucial C300 and OCZ Vertex 3.
