Strange problem please help!

A few days ago I installed the sp1 update and I have been fighting this ever since. I have a k50IN and after the update finished my usb 2 drivers were messed up. I reinstalled those and that works fine now, however, I have another problem. If I boot my computer up and log on the fn keys work, but are very laggy (like 10 sec between 1 notch of volume change). The weird part is that if I put the computer to sleep and wake it up they work fine just like normal before the sp1 install. I have tried this a million times and they only work if it goes to sleep and wakes up. I have reinstalled all the atk drivers and even the touch pad just for the heck of it and nothing solves this problem. please help!!! It is just really annoying at the moment because I always use the fn keys. Thanks for any help!

Does anything else lag for you (for instance, typing) or are you only having this issue with the Fn commands?

Have you tried installing a different version of the ATK programs? For instance, I've got an Eee 1001P netbook with the lower-spec version of ATK (without the aero effects) and it works fine after installing SP1. Maybe you could try that.

I actually tried a different version without the aero affects and it didnt work. I just cant figure out why it works after I put the computer to sleep... cause after it wakes up it works just like it supposed to

thank you! Please let me know if you think of anything. I just don't understand what would change from making the computer sleep. I'm pretty good with computers and computer hardware but this one has me stumped
