I have a Sager NP5720 that has been great for many years. Recently, it started a strange behavior of virtually shutting down—screen turns off, no hard drive activity, no sound, doesn't respond to standard buttons—but the CPU fan would rev up and down. Now, the computer doesn't even boot anymore but just stays blank while the fan revs up and down.
It does respond to Fn-F2, the clock displays, and the wireless, camera, power, and plugged-in icons light. The HDD light blinks a little at the beginning, but then nothing.
I've cleaned the heatsinks, tried pulling out the RAM chips (one at a time), reseated all piece, plugged into an external monitor. Still, I never even see the CMOS of the computer.
I tried searching the forums, but my keywords were either too short, or I couldn't find any information that seemed applicable. Has my 5720 died after all five years?
Thank you in advance for your help!
