Toshiba Laptop blue screen on Video Display

Hi All,

I'm currently receiving a blue screen software/hardware error related to my display driver: ATI Mobility HD 3470, on my Toshiba Satellite P305-S8822. I attached the mini dump to this issue as well.

This is the current version installed on my laptop.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies Inc
Driver Date: 1/30/2008
Driver Version: 8.452.2.0

When I go to Toshiba website I see the same version but dated 03/07/08. I tried installing it but, I still see the same driver date info, in my device manager.

When I goto AMD website, I see a newer version dated 2/15/11, but when I tried to install it, I get an error saying, this software isn't compatible with your video card.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/c...2-bit_util.exe

The following is the error message:
additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 116
BCP1: 86A14008
BCP2: 8E425B7C
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 00000002
OS Version: 6_0_6002
Service Pack: 2_0
Product: 768_1

Also see attachment of mini dump.

Just received the following error, right after installing the old drivers.

Control Center: Monitoring program has stopped working

If I uninstall the ATI software and just use a VGA driver, I have no issues.

Thanks.

Ah, what you need to do is to do an old type of install of the ATI driver, through device manager and NOT letting windows choose the driver, choose it yourself from the list.. What the driver is trying to do is update all parts, some of which are incompatible... You only need to update a few files.... (ATI drivers are poor, always have been and looks like, always will be..)..

Here's how to install ... However on Step9 use the 'Let me choose from a list' option and browse for the files... You can try different ones if you are not sure without detriment and you can always try the latest driver (search for the .inf file) and see what happens..

I tried this and it still doesn't work. Any other suggestions? Currently reverting back to the VGA driver.

Does anyone know the latest vista driver for this video card? HardwareId: PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4&SUBSYS_FF501179&REV_00?

Thanks.

If Toshiba does not have it on their support site, no one would have it unless you just want to pick up the latest catalyst and try forcing a manual installation yourself

cheers ...

I was told the latest vista driver from toshiba is 8.611.0.0000, but I can't find it.

I saw an 8.634.1 (W7) on the Toshiba Support Site for the P305 model - you might want to go direct there and review the ones for your OS

I just upgraded to Windows 7 32bit, (Clean Install) home premium, and I now get the following blue screen screen message. Any idea what maybe causing this? I'm using the latest Windows 7 driver from toshiba's website. Version: 8.634.10

GO into safe mode, remove the GPU driver, use driver cleaner to clean out all related GPU driver files. Restart and let Windows 7 pick up the appropriate driver from the net

<< Restart and let Windows 7 pick up the appropriate driver from the net >>

I was getting a BSOD using the driver Windows 7 picked up from the net, before I downloaded the latest from toshiba.
Both Windows 7 and Toshiba drivers are causing BSOD?

yes.
Try re-installing Windows 7 from scratch again and just let it updating drivers for you - and just use what it gives.

This may not be!

I just reformatted the drive, then performed the Toshiba windows 7 update. I don't see any errors in my device manger.

How could I verify?
You can't verify against chipset driver in device manager. Go to Toshiba Support Site and see if there is such a beast for your model. If not then you don't need it
