I am sooooooooooo not computer saavy - at least not yet
But I found this forum while perusing the internet - (contrary to popular opinion - there really are girls on the internet!!)
I was trying to see if I could find a way to fix my gateway laptop myself. (power jack issue -
) And whaddaya know - with my ability to read, follow directions, and google when I didn't know what parts are being referenced and/or where they are located - I found a solution that worked perfectly - a small jumper wire, a little solder and BOOM - back in business.
I could have left it at that - but I got greedy.
You see, I also have a Compaq Presario F500 lappy which stopped booting up about 4 months ago.
After reading through many posts and researching on google a little more, I determined I had a classic case of the Nvidia chipset overheating causing the solder to loosen. Having nothing to lose, I did a little baking yesterday, and BOOM - booted right up (after re-assembly of course)
After going back and giving some rep to posts, I decided I also wanted to post and personally express my mad love for these forums.
Maybe now I'll have some time to explore the forums a little more and have some fun while I'm here too.
You guys ROCK!
