3dmark for 9100`

post #1 of 58
Thread Starter
With omega drivers, updated GPU and CHIPSET bios, everything updated.

3dmark = 2962

Going to switch back to dell GPU drivers and run test again to see what the difference will be.

nothing overclocked.. everything at factory settings.

murt, i wouldn't worry about it, there have been numerous posts here from 9100/xps owners who used the omega drivers and had their 3dmark03 scores knocked down quite a bit. rerun with the default dell drivers and you should break 3000, probably get you a little over 3300 on 3dmark03 if you have the ati 9700 video card

with my iXPS 3.4ghz I was getting 3368 so your scores sound just about right for a non overclocked system.

With my default settings , drivers..etc my first 3DMark was like 3150. Thought that was really good for only 256 ram and a 64mb vid card.
post #5 of 58
Straight out of the box mine ran 3358, each time I run it now, it comes within a few points of that figure

So are the Omega drivers right now flat out the best ones for the XPS/9100?
post #9 of 58
My system:

Inspiron 9100
2.8ghz P4 Prescott
15" WXGA
512mb PC3200
60gb 5400 RPM
Radeon 9700 64mb

3Dmark03 = 3261

Just got it and the only thing I did was install the latest omega drivers.

The Omegas are the best. They may not always get the best benchmark scores but in actual gaming they kill the Dell release.

Stu, just one question.. Do the Omega drivers in any way overclock the video card? Sorry for my ignorance. But your last post has tempted me to try them.

No, they don't overclock the card..... unless you want them too. They come packaged with a program called RadLinker, which allows you to overclock the card should you want to. This program is incredibly useful, it allows you to have custom video settings and custom overclocking should you wish on a per-game basis, that changes automatically.

So say for example you have a game like Jedi Academy you want to run with full AA and AF and another like Battlefield Vietnam where you want to have no AA or AF. Instead of changing the settings mannually ever time you play, by using a radlink it will be done automatically. It's great

which link did you choose?? i tried chaos but it wont work? Also, is there anything i have to uninstall first? I never added anything since getting the 9100 except getting bios A02, but nothing else. Is there anything i need to do before installing these omega drivers?

If one link won't work, move onto the next, theres about 10 there! Now all you have to do before installing the Omegas is delete you existing drivers.

Firstly delete the source files, since you are using Dell release they will be located at C:\DELL\DRIVERS. If you want you can delete everything in this directory as once all your drivers are installed they are no longer needed.

Next, uninstalling the drivers themselves, go into add/ remove programs and uninstall the ATI control panel and the drivers themselves, and reboot.

Once it starts up it will try to install new ones, quit out of all that and one of those annoying bubbles will pop up saying it isn't installed and may not work properly, blah, blah, blah.

Just ignore this and now go to the downloaded Omega EXE file and run it, it will install like any other driver, and after a reset you'll be flying in no time.

No it doesn't matter if you downloaded it fist, so long as you didn't run the exectutable and extract the files. If you downloaded it and left it then thats fine, you just run that file after you have uninstalled previous drivers and rebooted.

And yes, delete powerstrip if you want, the included radlinker will float your boat.
