Doesn't the wide screen laptops cut off the screen when your playing a game or something?

Depends on the game. Some games will strech to the full screen, others will just play in a square with black bars on the side, and others fully support widescreen gaming, Like Counter-Strike 1.6

More and more games are now able to support the widescreen without any tweaks or hacks. A lot of them seem to have some file you can edit in order to play in your widescreen resolution so the images isnt stretched. it's really not that hard to do. All of the games i've played either supported it, or you could 'hack' the game to get the res you wanted. some older older games may not. But i also might add that you can really hardly even notice a stretched game image, i thought it would be bad, but really you wouldn't notice under normal circumstances

If you use a crazy resolution for your game, it'll cut parts off. It did that for me when I was setting up KOTOR. I set it at too high a resolution and things got whacked off. No big deal to set the resolution down one notch. Other than that, it's just like Enderet said.
I was very hesitant at first getting a widescreen. I got the 8790 more for its features rather than the screen. I wanted a 16" UXGA screen, actually. But now that I've got my widescreen, I highly doubt that I'll ever go back to a 4:3 screen.
