Alienware today, Alienware tomorrow, Alienware forever

The Alienware Area-51 is the porsche of the computing world!!! I've read some harsh reviews of this sublime machine since I bought it a few months ago and its hard to ascertain which are valid and which ones are just Creative Writing 101. My loaded system came a week earlier than it was supposed to (they were straight up when I bought it and said that I would have to wait 30 days but it arrived after only 22 ) This baby is like a dream come true!!! Of course I went with the Nvidia 5950 card as ATI, despite the current trend of gamers swearing by them, lacks the cult status of the former. NV cards just play and look and most importantly, FEEL better than their ATI counterparts. Needless to say, my games run like cartoons now and the mouse action makes me want to puke with the smooth gameplay. I had to call Costa Rica a few times about some minor software issues and they, contrary to many, were very helpful and nice. I even managed to get an on-site tech out to my house to check my fans (nothing wrong with them of course) and that is no small feat considering I live in the high desert of Northern Nevada. Alienware is the best company to buy from because they live up to their rep >>> built with quality parts, backed by quality people. If you want the best, get an Alienware and ignore all those whiners who dog them. I suspect that they are anal retentive, obsessive compulsive types who lack the people skills necessary to get their systems up and running properly. Alienware forever baby!!!

Gold Key To The Crapper

Hang in there, man! Its going to be so worth the wait!!! And I bet you THE GOLD KEY TO THE CRAPPER that your system arrives before June. Rumors about your card's availability are just that... As for the *agonizing* wait for your system, try watching loads of TVland classics like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and of course, the Munsters. Your mind will go into a metaphysical shutdown and time will fly (Trust me I know)!!! When you get your system, be sure to put MAFIA on it as it will look so cherry on your comp; good luck!!!

A perfectly objective analysis.

You think 22 days is QUICK? You have a lot more patience than I would; in the computing world, 3 weeks is a long time.

Objectivity objectifies

LOL!!! I'm serious as a heart attack, man! Nvidia diehards almost always agree that they stick with NV, despite current trends to go ATI, because the card has something intangible that makes games seem to jump out of the screen at you...I've had ATI cards before and I really have no complaints but theres something addictive about a properly clocked Nvidia setup. Anyhow and lastly, I truly think that the computing world is full of lousy, low end machines. Their walmartesque cheapness sickens what has now become the "consumer" vs. what used to be the "customer". Three weeks would be a long time waiting for a dell or a gateway maybe but these built by the lowest bidder systems belong in a smelly old K-mart next to a cheese dog display. Alienware is like a brandy sniffer after a good screw... It just feels right! And it is a nut rush to get a fully loaded Mac Daddy system in JUST three weeks that runs perfecto straight out of the box (until some drunken fool tests the limits of a very fragile Windows XP Home Edition and has to call a very helpful technical support group down in the old country to get it right again). Not only did I get my mojo on with the best gameplay these weary old eyes have ever seen, I got my cake and ate it too!!!

Well Vice, I can only hope that my sytem will arrive before June. I have a good feeling that AW will get the parts in by the 3rd week in May and my system will arrive before the month ends.

While it might be a Porsche, it is definetely not the newest or the best equiped one out there. I am tempted to say it is a Boxter, but I think it fits more as the standard Porchse 911 (the non-carrera, non-turbo).

Its fast, its very nice looking, but its not the fastest AND best looking. I dont believe there is a 911 Carrera out there yet.

I am hoping that when you promote Alienware laptops, you will make consumers
aware that you have no intention of supporting the system for more than 1
year!

The keyboard has failed on our $2200.00 m9700 (which is the 2nd part to
fail) and I am told by your sales reps that you do not supply replacement
parts for this model because you don't produce it anymore.... I can still
order parts for a 40 year old car that is no longer produced---- or a TV for
that matter!

The only thing found on the support part of your web site directs you to
laptop parts suppliers who also do not show replacement parts for the m9700.

If anyone receiving this email can help me not end up with a $2200.00
doorstop, I would greatly appreciate it and if not I will definitely be
telling everyone I know (and I'm an online gamer-so that's a lot of people)
to stay as far away from your systems as possible.

The m9700 is a very old notebook. It was released in 2005. What are you talking about a year later? Its 2009. Notebooks generally get to a point where the technology isn't available because manufacturers don't make them anymore. Your logic and complaints are baseless.

One year refers to their (and most companies) standard warranty. The laptop was purchased in Sep. 2007---it is only 2 years old; and again, I thought I was paying for quality and the ability to upgrade. I could have built 3 screaming gamer desktops for what I paid. I'm so glad this doesn't happen when I need to replace a standard part on my 1994 Mustang!
And even though their new owner, Dell also sucks.... I can at least still identify my 7 year old system on their support site and get parts.
Especially the fact that a keyboard on a laptop is the most susceptible to damage you'd think they would keep in contact with the manufacturer and at least be able to recommend a compatible replacement!!!
Was it purchased from directly from Alienware?
YES! Directly!!!! And they weren't much help when the hard drive failed after 16 months either.......... just had to get one at Best Buy.........
Well then it must be because you were out of warranty. I bought my notebook in August of 06 (with a 3 year warranty) and just had service done on it in June of this year. Maybe they're saving the parts for people who paid for the warranty. Just an idea.
Thats very strange. Most computer companies (that are still in business) are required to keep parts for at least 10 years based on a law that I cant remember of the top of my head. For those under warranty many companies simply offer to upgrade to a later generation model to save the headache of actually having to keep parts as long as they do.
I dont think it's that long.
