Can you post up a pic of the device manager screen?

It could also be a card reader driver that causes this "!"

cheers ...

Card reader? I'm not sure what you mean.

Here's a pic.

SD Card reader device. My device manager looks exactly like yours with that "!" ding in the PCI bridge device. Does not bother my comp's performance under W7 Ultimate.

Try searching the driver for the card reader. You know its manufacturer?

No I don't. I don't even know what card we're talking about. This has drove me nuts all night and now daylight is here and I'm going to bed! Oh, there's that '!' again!!!! LOL

Thank you so much for all your help. I will probably be back later, if I ever wake up!

Thank you!

Okay, I'm back! LOL

So is there anything I can do for the card reader?

Also how is one supposed to know which drivers to DL? I followed the Dell guide but some of the Hardware has 2 and 3 drivers. Which one are we suppose to use? The latest date?

Also I mentiioned I didn't install the modem, and the Aegia Physics Card. Well now I did install the Aegia Physics card and still have the exclamtion.

Is there anything else I can do. I mean the system seems to be fine, and is running real nice. I am wondering if I should reistall and start from scratch again but the sustem seems to be okay. I guess time will tell.

Thanks.

Unless you know for sure which manufacturer the card came from it will be tough to dig up the appropriate driver for Windows 7. In my case I found the right one but it did not work well with Windows 7 at all - forced install solved the "!" issue but that was about it.

I would leave the system as it is now since it is running smoothly for you. Eventually, and hopefully, that Windows 7 will update its driver database. Devices drivers manufacturers are in no mood to offer Windows 7 support for old machines.

just to confirm you installed both the Intel and Ricoh chipset drivers ?

Does you laptop have Bluetooh and it is workig ?

Well I did install both of them first thing, so I would think so but looking at the device driver again, why is it I only see the Ricoh driver? Hmm.

Under IEEE1394 is Ricoh then under IDE ATA is Intel and Ricoh. Is this correct?

Thanks.
I can see that under IEEE 1394 a Ricoh Controller, but under IDE ATA? hmmm

Back to the PCI entry, when you open up the properties, then under the Detail Tab, under Hardware ID, what do you have as PCI\VEN value?

Also I just noticed, some of the drivers are in my control panel??? This is really weird. I ahd to do something wrong. I DL them to my desktop like the instruction said. How could they end up in my control panel.
That "!" ding according to the screen shot is the PhysX card Use standard nVidia GPU driver should fix the problem

Um, I did DL the Ageia driver from the dell site. Phys X processor?

Was that the correct one? IS this even what you mean?

Thanks, the drivers confuse me as you well know. I am never sure which ones to DL.

How about the Link... Pleaseeeeeeeeee.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Ageia PhysX sounds right. The good people from guru3D mentioned that you should first install an old driver under XP mode so that the device manager can recognize it. Then if Windows decides to give you an update just not accepting in removing the old driver, but installing it on top.

Now before you do anything, create a system restore point first - don't shoot the messenger if your comp revolts

I thank the messenger for all the help! No Worries, back up in progress and I won't feel bad if I need to reinstall again, since there really is nothing on my system yet.

I waited to get this straightened out before I start installing my programs.

Thank you again! Will let you know how it goes... listen for my scream!

I'm not sure... I click on it and the webcam console comes up. But nothing happens. No picture and the webcam light did not come up. It's not working and I don't know why.

Any ideas?
