Macbook & Windows XP

Thread Starter
I just purchased a macbook & would like to tap into our windows xp home network workgroup to use a printer. I can see & access the Internet from the macbook, but I am unable to access the other network computer or printer from the macbook. I'd rather not have to purchase a new wireless laser printer if I don't have to.

Thx in advance!

No reason you shouldn't be able to. Assuming you are using ZeroConf/Bonjour on the server machine, it should just show up naturally in OS X. If not you will need to add it manually.

I had to do this:

Open Network Preferences

Make sure the wireless network to which you are connected appears in the dropdown menu

Click 'Advanced'

Choose the WINS tab

in homegroup, enter the name of your Windows workgroup (e.g. - MSHOME)

Hopefully that should do it; it allowed my MBP to be visible to other PCs on my mixed network.
