Acer Aspire 5315 not powering up

Hey all

I have my sister's laptop at moment which will not power on. I've tried a couple of different power leads to try and rectify the problem, but no joy.  Any other courses of action or suggestions anyone has would be most welcome.  I have a feeling the actual power adaptor housing itself may be damaged.

Try removing the battery and plug the laptop into the AC adapter

Would it turn on with only a full-charged battery?

Don't know, the battery is flat with no way to charge it. There is power going through the AC cable as the led is green on the brick.
