XI2428 fan problem

Hi everybody, ever since upgrading from vista to seven I've lost the ability to control fan speed on my XI2428 laptop.

Tried speedfan and NHC with the ACPI file for xi2428 but had no luck, fan control still doesn't show.

Has anybody had any luck with NHC or some other software?

Did the upgrade advisory give you some hints as far as which apps needing updates? A (forced) re-installation of the chipset driver maybe?

Hi qhn, thanks for replying. I keep the drivers updated regularly so I got no alert from the advisor. I guess I'll try reinstalling the chipset driver then.

Have you had any experience with NHC by the way? I was wondering if the ACPI files require more tinkering to work properly or if it's just a matter of copying the files in the appropriate folder. smile.gif

I used NHC once, giving up after moving to Windows 7 since the ACPI handling is much better off leaving it to W7 at the moment. And unless there is the need to control the fan outside W7, I would not be bothered with it.

downgraded to 1.15c, before I had 1.16c, it can be found on FS website: http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html smile.gif

I suggest you update to the new firmware asap. This model have thermal issues with vga board which fails from overheating. The vga is cooled by the cpu heatsink but cannot report thermal status so if vga is overheated and cpu isn't the fan will not start and will force vga to fail. That is why with new bios fan is always working in slow speed instead of stoping.

I see, I will keep an eye on that. Actually I use speedfan and the GPU never gets over 55 degrees. In case I will just buy a cooling base, cheaper than replacing the internal fan which would have likely failed soon from running at maximum speed the whole time
