Hoping you guys are able to help me out with a problem I am having getting this Laptop to initialise the Floppy drive to Blind Flash the Bios.
I belongs to my cousin, who went through the process of updating everything from Toshiba's site after installing Windows 7. Half way through the silly mistake of flashing the Bios it failed and system turned off. Now it gets stuck at the Toshiba BIOS loading screen and gets no further.
I've read around loads of different places about BIOS Recovery and learnt quite a bit, but it does not want to go any further.
I create a DOS boot floppy disk with the Autoexec.bat, PHLASH16.EXE and BIOS.WPH (renamed original BIOS) and can confirm it definitely works as a DOS boot floppy disk.
I also have a USB External Floppy drive connected to it. I've tried it with USB drives, but they are not recognised.
The procedure I found that works so far is -
1. Power Off, Unplug Charge cord.
2. Hold Fn+F, insert Charge cord.
3. Press Power Button - blue light goes off instantly - but remains laptop on.
4. Wait for the Blue light to come back on, release Fn+F and hold again.
Doing this the Floppy drive light flickers as if to look on the diskette for the BIOS, but thats it. It goes no further.
Any suggestions as to why it will not complete the Blind Flash procedure?
I have the service manual for this Laptop, which to be perfectly frank - is wrong. I do not have a [~] (tilde key) to the left of the keyboard... - Alt, Windows Key, Fn and Ctrl - but no tilde!.
