LCD Problem with Sony Vaio

Last Summer, my old Sony Vaio FX190K's LCD started to flicker and finally went kaput

Someone on HardForums said it could be the Power Inverter, so I took her apart (first time I ever opened up a computer) and changed the Inverter, but it didn't fix the problem

Sony wouldn't touch it for less than $500+ initial fee, so I sent it out to an independant shop that specializes in Sony notebooks (CSITEX).....

Turns out the LCD bulb was blown, so he replaced it, charged me $250 and gave me a 3 month warranty

Well, as soon as the 3 months was up, the screen started to flicker again

Only this time, the screen goes blank about 10 seconds after startup...

If I close the lid and open it again, the LCD works fine for another 10 seconds or so and then goes blank again

I'm guessing the LCD is fine, but perhaps the Power Inverter is the cause this time around

But before I order one again, is there anything else that might cause this problem?

Try reseating the LCD connectors (plug out, plug back firmly).

OK, I finally got around to taking her apart earlier today....

I disconnected ALL plug-in type connectors, blew them out with an air duster and plugged them back in...

Unfortunately, I still have the same problem

However, with the LCD removed from the base (still plugged in), I noticed that the power inverter would make a sizzling/buzzing noise while the screen was glitching

The noise would stop once the LCD went blank, but if I hit the cut-off switch for the LCD (the little button that turns off the screen when you shut the lid) and release, the screen would turn on again, start to glitch, then go blank a few seconds later

Would the LCD inverter most likely be the culprit in this case

A word of advice (Considering I'm seeing what I'm seeing in those pictures)...

REMOVE THE BATTERY AND AC POWER from the notebook before opening the case. You might as well be shooting yourself in the head working on the internal components of a notebook while powered...

The power supply and battery were removed for the initial teardown, but after I unplugged and plugged everything, I turned it on while it was still apart just to see if it made any difference.....

I might just go ahead and order a new inverter....

It's only $59 bucks and if it doesn't work, I can return it with a minor 10% restocking fee.....

I just wanna know if it's the only thing that can cause this type of problem....
